Vincent C. Tizzio
AXIS President and CEO
Vincent C. Tizzio is President and CEO of AXIS Capital. Mr. Tizzio has a proven track record as a business leader at both large global and mid-size insurance carriers, with a deep and expansive understanding of the specialty space, and an ability to grow strong organizational cultures.<br> At AXIS, Mr. Tizzio has led the Company to consistently deliver record premium growth for its specialty insurance business; implemented the repositioning of AXIS Re as a specialist reinsurer; expanded its offerings specifically designed for small-to-mid-sized businesses; launched efforts to grow AXIS’ digital capabilities; and further scaled its global platform.<br> Prior to joining AXIS, Mr. Tizzio served as EVP and Head of Global Specialty at The Hartford where he led a multi-billion dollar business focused on delivering a broad array of specialty products through wholesale and retail channels. Previously, he had served for 7 years as President and CEO of Navigators Management Company, leading the organization until its acquisition by The Hartford in 2019. Prior to that, Mr. Tizzio worked at Zurich Financial Services and AIG, serving in progressive senior leadership roles within both companies.<br> Mr. Tizzio received a B.A. degree in finance and sociology from Adelphi University. He serves on the boards of the Maguire Academy of Risk Management at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management at St. John’s University in New York, and the Association for Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR).<br> He is on the boards of the Monmouth Medical Center, the Visiting Nurse Association, Embrace Partners, and the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. Mr. Tizzio is also a longstanding board member of the Freedom House, an organization committed to helping people with addiction, and a founder of Feed Belly Farm, which helps to provide food to people in need. <p> </p>
Peter Vogt
Chief Financial Officer
Peter Vogt was appointed Chief Financial Officer of AXIS Capital in January 2018. He previously served as the Company's Deputy CFO from July 1, 2017 until his appointment as CFO in January 2018 and as the Chief Operating Officer of AXIS Insurance from 2013 to June 2017. Mr. Vogt joined AXIS in 2010 as CFO and COO of the Company's Accident & Health business unit. Prior to AXIS, Mr. Vogt served as CFO of Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company. He also held the CFO role at CIGNA's Group Insurance business. Mr. Vogt started his career at Hartford Life Insurance Company where, over nearly 14 years, he held a series of actuarial roles and eventually led sales, marketing and product development for its corporate retirement business. Mr. Vogt holds a BBA in Actuarial Science from Temple University and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Ann Haugh
CEO, AXIS Re
Ann Haugh is Chief Executive Officer of AXIS Re. Prior to that, she held leadership roles in the organization that included President, Global Property and President, Global Markets for AXIS Re. Ms. Haugh joined AXIS from Thomas Miller where she served as Group COO. Before that, she held the role of President International Insurance and Global Insurance COO at Aspen Insurance Group and was a member of the Executive Committee. Previously, Ms. Haugh served 6 years at Zurich Insurance where she joined as COO, Global Corporate in North America then globally (2007-2011) followed by CEO Global Corporate UK (2011 – 2012) rising to Group Chief of Staff (2012-2013). Throughout her 30 year career, Ms. Haugh has held a variety of underwriting leadership roles and has been passionate about developing the next generation of talent by building underwriter training programs and leading sponsorship and mentoring initiatives. She is equally committed to supporting DEI initiatives, and sits as an Advisory Board Member for the Insider Progress. She was a past recipient of the Business Insurance Woman to Watch award, included in the 2022 50 Over Fifty recognizing women in the U.K. insurance market, and is a member of the APIW (Association of Professional Insurance Women), the ISC (Insurance Supper Club), Inclusion@Lloyd’s, and the CII.
Celeste Cook
Chief Operations Officer of Specialty Ins/Re
Celeste Cook is Chief Operations Officer of Specialty Insurance and Reinsurance for AXIS Capital. She joined AXIS in March 2023 from Starr Insurance Company where she served as Reinsurance Chief Operating Officer. Previously, she spent a combined 15 years at The Hartford and Navigators, where she served as SVP, U.S. Operations. Prior to that, Ms. Cook spent 20 years with General Reinsurance Corporation where she held a series of roles with increasing levels of responsibility.
Conrad D. Brooks
Chief Administrative and Legal Officer
Conrad D. Brooks is Chief Administrative and Legal Officer of AXIS Capital. Prior to his appointment to the role in January 2024, he served as AXIS’s General Counsel since January 2017 and as the company’s Corporate Counsel for nearly a decade before that. Mr. Brooks joined AXIS from McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (now Dentons), where he was a partner and served as practice team leader in the firm’s corporate and securities practice. A former officer in the United States Navy, Mr. Brooks received his BS from the University of Illinois, his MBA (Finance) from Old Dominion University and his JD from Georgia State University College of Law.
Dan Draper
Group Chief Underwriting Officer
Dan Draper was appointed Group Chief Underwriting Officer in September 2022. He had previously served for more than two years as Group Head of Underwriting at AXIS. Prior to that, he had been Group Chief Risk and Actuarial Officer at VIBE. Before joining VIBE, Mr. Draper spent eight years with AXIS, holding a number of leadership roles that included Group Chief Actuary, Chief Risk Analytics Officer, and Insurance Segment Chief Risk Officer. Before that, he held managerial positions at the Financial Services Authority, XL Capital, and Ernst & Young. Mr. Draper received a Masters in Engineering from the University of Bath and is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
David Phillips
Chief Investment Officer
David Phillips joined AXIS Capital as Chief Investment Officer in April 2014. With over 25 years of experience in investments, Mr. Phillips previously served as Head of Investments for PartnerRe. Prior to PartnerRe, he was the Director of Research and a Portfolio Manager at Oppenheimer Capital, an institutional money manager based in New York City. Mr. Phillips is a CFA® charterholder and received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an AB from Princeton University.
Mark Gregory
Head of Global Markets
Mark Gregory is Head of Global Markets for the Company’s Specialty Insurance business. Prior to that and since joining Axis in 2010, Mr. Gregory served as Chief Executive Officer for AXIS Insurance's International Division, responsible for all Insurance activities in London, Brussels and Singapore. In 2017, Mr. Gregory led the launch of AXIS Managing Agency Limited as its CEO. This firm manages all the activities of AXIS Syndicate 1686 at Lloyd's of London. Following the acquisition of Novae in the same year, he oversaw the successful union of the AXIS and Novae as CEO of the newly merged business. Prior to joining AXIS, Mr. Gregory spent 15 years at Marsh where he was CEO of Marsh Global Markets International (2004) and was the Founding CEO of Bowring Marsh (2008). He was an Executive Director on the Board of Marsh U.K. Limited. He served on the Board of the International Underwriters Association (IUA) between 2015 and 2019 and currently serves on the Board of the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA). He began his career in 1980 as a broker.
Megan Watt
Chief Claims Officer
Megan Watt joined AXIS Capital as Chief Claims Officer in March 2023. Previously she served as Head of North America Complex Claims for Chubb. Before that, Ms. Watt served as Chief Claims Officer for Everest, and prior to that, held claims leadership roles with increasing levels of responsibility at AIG.
Mike McKenna
Head of North America
Michael McKenna is Head of North America at AXIS where he oversees underwriting and business growth strategies for the North America Wholesale and Retail businesses. Prior to joining AXIS, Michael was the Chief Underwriting Officer for Falvey Insurance Group where his role was focused in profitable growth of the existing product suite for their carrier partners, expansion of the existing specialty product offering, as well as executive responsibility for the various underwriting functions. Before Falvey, Mike formerly led the Underwriting function as Chief Underwriting Officer of the Hartford Global Specialty Unit. He joined The Hartford from Navigators as part of the company’s acquisition in May 2019. At Navigators, Michael was the Chief Underwriting Officer of U.S. Insurance with key responsibilities of growth, expense management and profitability of the U.S. Specialty products. Michael joined Navigators in 2004 from Aon where he was Senior Vice President of the Specialty Reinsurance division. He focused on development and servicing of clients engaged in the broader P&C marketplace with heavy emphasis on Marine, Energy, Property, Aviation and other specialty lines of business. Michael received a B.S. in Finance from Manhattan College.
Stephen Lord
Global Chief Information Officer
Stephen Lord joined AXIS Capital in February 2024. Prior to joining AXIS, Mr. Lord was SVP and CIO of The Hartford and also held leadership roles at Navigators Group and Endurance Specialty. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lord spent six years with AXIS, holding a number of positions including CIO Accident & Health, Global Chief Technology Officer, and CIO Reinsurance.
