Governance overview
The Corporate Governance, Nominating and Social Responsibility Committee of the AXIS Board of Directors provides oversight for Corporate Citizenship and ESG activities and policies. Our Board, along with our Risk Committee, oversees the risks and opportunities related to the Company’s climate change exposure and initiatives and receives regular reports relating to climate change as part of their standing agendas.
Day-to-day initiatives are guided by corporate policies and staff-driven committees overseen by AXIS’ Chief Administrative and Legal Officer. This includes a Corporate Citizenship Committee with dedicated global leads focused on overall strategy, climate, DEI, and philanthropy, and numerous staff-led committees such as our Environmental Working Group, DEI Council, and Philanthropy Committees.
Acting responsibly
Supplier Management
Our commitment to supply chain management goes beyond our practices within AXIS. In 2021, we launched a Supplier Diversity Policy designed to help ensure a diverse supplier base. Our Supplier Code of Conduct outlines our expectations and requirements for our Suppliers. In 2022, we signed a pledge to advance sustainable action in our supply chain.
Ethics & Compliance
AXIS firmly believes that trust, transparency, and accountability are paramount for our long-term success. We aim to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Our Code of Conduct applies to all AXIS directors, officers and employees worldwide and all individuals are required to self-certify compliance on an annual basis. Our General Counsel has managerial oversight and responsibility for business ethics at AXIS.
Data Privacy & Cybersecurity
We recognize our responsibility to protect your data privacy, now more than ever. Data privacy and protection at AXIS is overseen by the Enterprise Data Council and the Board. Along with the Risk and Audit Committees of the Board, they oversee our information security program and receive updates throughout the year on cybersecurity matters.
Enterprise Risk Management
The mission of Enterprise Risk Management ("ERM") at the Company is to promptly identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report risks that affect the achievement of our strategic, operational, and financial objectives. For more on ERM as it relates to climate risk, see our recent TCFD report.
