AXIS Supplier Diversity Policy Statement

At AXIS, diversity, equity and inclusion is a core value that is critical to our business and culture. We recognize the importance of different perspectives and experiences within our organization and at large, and we are committed to developing a diverse supplier base that reflects the communities we serve.

The goal of the AXIS supplier diversity program is to ensure a diverse supplier base in the procurement of goods and services by creating opportunities for certified Diverse Business Enterprises (DBE) to participate in our procurement process.

 

Supplier Diversity Program Scope

A DBE is a business at least 51% owned and operated by an individual or group that is part of a traditionally (i.e., historically) underutilized, under-represented or underserved group. Under the AXIS program qualifying suppliers are defined as U.S. or Canada-based for-profit enterprises that are at least 51% owned, controlled and operated by one or more of the following groups:

  • Disabled
  • LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer)
  • Minority
    • Black
    • Latino/Hispanic
    • Asian (includes Asian Indian)
    • Native Pacific Islander
    • Native American or Aboriginal
  • Veterans
  • Service-Disabled Veterans
  • Women

 

Diverse Supplier Certification Requirements

Qualifying DBEs are required to provide and maintain a valid certification of diverse-ownership status through at least one or more of the following agencies and/or organizations:

  • National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) (including regional affiliates)
  • Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC)
  • U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce (USWCC)
  • National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC)
  • National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO)
  • National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NAVOBA)
  • U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC)
  • United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC)
  • State, federal or local (county, city) government agencies
  • Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Development Council (CAMSC)
  • Disability : IN

 

Supplier Diversity Program Framework

To meet our supplier diversity goals, we employ a four-pillar approach:   

  1. Internal Collaboration: 
    1. Providing our employees with training and education materials to help drive awareness of the program, and our organization’s commitment to developing a diverse supplier base
    2. Working together within AXIS to proactively identify opportunities to include diverse suppliers in our procurement process
  2. External Outreach: 
    1. Maintaining a database of diverse suppliers who have registered with AXIS as DBEs
    2. Actively engaging with national organizations to gain access to diverse supplier networks and databases and drive program awareness
    3. Creating opportunities for diverse suppliers to participate in our procurement process through fair, impartial competitive sourcing events
  3. Second Tier Program:
    1. Encouraging our non-diverse supplier partners to partner with diverse suppliers through sub-contracting opportunities created in the performance of services under contract with AXIS
  4. Monitoring/Results:
    1. Monitoring against established objective metrics to measure results and overall program effectiveness in achieving our goals 

 

Supplier Diversity Program Registration

To register with AXIS, certified DBEs must request a Supplier Diversity Registration form by sending an email to [email protected] with the subject line “Request for Supplier Diversity Registration Form”.

The Supplier Diversity Registration form will request attestation of diverse business certification and a description of the prospective suppliers’ product or service. Registration does not guarantee a business relationship with AXIS and does not confer a preferred status. Information provided will be treated confidentially.

  • Facilities (construction and electrical services and supplies, furniture, janitorial services and supplies, maintenance, and security services)
